The Beginning of Our Journey

Our first day in Barangay Goodyear began with warm smiles and open arms, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience. Leading the way was our incredible Community Preceptor, Doc Eric T. Cabayacruz, whose passion and guidance became the cornerstone of our journey. With patience and enthusiasm, he walked us through everything we needed to do, ensuring we felt both capable and inspired. We were then introduced to the RHU health staff and the dedicated team at the Barangay Health Station—the unsung heroes working tirelessly to keep the community healthy. Among them were Ma’am Jing and Ma’am Judy, the Barangay Nutrition Scholars, who became our guides and companions as we conducted house-to-house surveys.

The Beginning of Our Journey
Courtesy Call with Barangay Health Workers
We were warmly welcomed by the dedicated Barangay Health Workers who play a vital role in the community’s well-being. Their hospitality, commitment, and insights gave us a deeper appreciation of grassroots healthcare. It was a meaningful exchange of experiences and a great opportunity to learn from their day-to-day realities on the ground.

We had the honor of joining the flag ceremony alongside Dr. Eric. Following this, we paid a courtesy visit to the ever-welcoming Mayor Katrina Balladares. Her support and inspiring words reminded us of the crucial role of local leadership in advancing health and community development.

Meeting with BHWs: Gathering Community Health Data
Together with the Rural Health Midwife, Ma’am Cleofe Ferrer, we met with the BHWs to gather vital community health data—an important step in understanding the local health needs.

Meeting the Sanitary Inspector
We had a productive discussion with Ma’am Jonelle Villaflores to review and gather important sanitation and health data relevant to the community. Her insights gave us a clearer understanding of the current public health concerns and ongoing initiatives in the area.

Prenatal Check-up Participation
We had the opportunity to assist during the prenatal check-up by helping with history taking and blood pressure monitoring. It was a hands-on experience that deepened our understanding of maternal care at the community level.
